Agricultural Engineer Apprentice

C&O are looking for a great Apprentice Agricultural Engineer to join our team at Funtington. The role will entail servicing and maintaining farm equipment as well as horticultural machinery. You will be responsible for making sure machinery and equipment run smoothly and provide excellent customer service thereby maximising customer retention and increase profitability. Initially you will work alongside a fully qualified Engineer and full training will be given through Massey Ferguson.

Main Responsibilities

This role includes the following key priorities:

  • Servicing and repairing machinery and equipment, either in the workshop or during field visits.
  • Fixing faults or installing replacement parts.
  • Compliance with manufacturers’ service and warranty procedures.
  • Account for all hours worked using timesheet.
  • Keep the Management informed of progress.
  • Maintain work area and company vehicle (if applicable) in a safe, tidy and professional manner, necessary to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Employees must act in accordance with the company Health & Safety Policy, Risk Assessments and Safe Working Practices.

Personal Specification

  • Good mechanical knowledge of any vehicle or machinery would be ideal and experience in the agricultural sector would be beneficial.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work on your own or as part of a team.
  • An awareness of health and safety.
  • A full driver’s licence will be essential once you are a fully qualified Engineer.

Due to the nature of this role travelling is required in order to carry out your role effectively.

Entry Requirements

Level 2 Diploma in Agricultural Engineering at High Merit/Distinction

OR

5 GCSE’s at Grade 4 or C’s in English and Maths +3 other. Students with grade D in English and / or Maths would be considered depending on grade profiles, practical experience and the successful completion of a Level 2 test in English and Maths. Basic IT literacy would be expected.
